OH

So, things are going well here in New York. I happened upon a place in Manhattan, a non-profit collateral loan company started in the late 1890's, who needed an appraiser. I walked in, basically, handed my resume over, and by the week's end, I had a job. The pay is basically what I made at the pawn shop, but I won't be working weekends, it's salaried, and the hours are 9-4. The people are so much more down to Earth, less serious about themselves, and not complete shits. I started today, and I feel so much more happy being in a nice area of the city (25th St and Park Ave) and doing things that don't make me want to drink or lose sleep at night. Someday I might write up a long ass post about all the shit the pawnshop wanted me to do, but lately, I just want to ignore all that. The experience was good and I've moved on. I'm a happier person ever since.

This weekend, Jill and Sebastian had made plans to go to a Ren Fair upstate, and considering I didn't exactly have a damn thing to do, I went to take pics of them suiting in these:

More pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mercurypale/sets/72157622165031895/

I wasn't sure what to expect of the fair, or the reactions to the costumes, but people went crazy over them. Most people couldn't believe they weren't employees of the fair, and the kids were mostly loving them. They looked really awesome, gotta say :3

Also, ren fair's have the most amazing food.. this one did, atleast. I haven't been to one since I was a kid, but here you could get: wheat beer, iced chai tea, salads and a shitload of meat. All cheaper than they are in Manhattan. SUCCESSSSSSS

Basically, my life is pretty good right now, can't complain. Want more frequent updates? Follow me on Twitter Tabernak

So everyone is asking, "Wow, you lost your job?? How????" I've basically been online only on my iphone since Saturday, so now that I am at home, here is the explanation and backstory:

Last Saturday, I worked in Jamaica at one of our pawn shops as usual. The shop had a new camera installed Friday, so we were looking at it and messing around. One of the cameras was in the hallway that led to apartments upstairs. These apartments are for employees of the company, so I figured this was normal security protocol and that the camera was in plain sight.

Monday-Thursday morning I had casually mentioned this to a few people, joking about how I wouldn't want to live there because if I took a sick day and went to the beach, they would see that.

Thursday while I was eating lunch, the CFO of the company asks me to come to her office with the manager of the Brooklyn store. They frantically ask why I told people about the camera, who I told, and how I "found it". I answered and went to finish my lunch. After a bit, the CFO comes out and freaks out, saying I wasted four thousand dollars of her money used to install a hidden camera and ruined an "internal investigation" after only one day.

Backstory: One of the apartment tenants works in a store in Hicksville. He apparently made bad loans (IE should've been $400 but were for $5000 instead) and pocketed the money to buy a villa in the Dominican Republic. They "know" as I was told, and were just.. trying to catch him doing.. something??

So I apparently blew this "investigation" by saying something about what I assumed were normal security cameras that weren't even in weird, hidden places.

Friday I am shopping at Macy's for some stuff and a friend from work messages me with "tell me it's not true". I had lined up a possible job interview Thursday morning (good timing, huh) and I figured he'd have heard about that. He texts me back asking if I've been fired. I immediately call Brooklyn and ask about this, which apparently sent them into a Goddamn tailspin, because I somehow knew and they couldn't trace it back (IE, my friend heard someone on a phone in the background at another store I've never been to, etc.. very tangled web). They said that I was not, to go work in Jamaica Saturday, etc.

Saturday, I work a normal day, I say that I'm going to be fired pretty much all day. We were getting weird phone calls from management in Brooklyn, which never happens. Sure enough, they sent someone to tell me the news after closing time that day. The official reason was "tampering with security equipment". Keep in mind, the news of this camera never got to the person they assumed it did.

So basically, the person who stole works there and gets his own store, and I am fired for some unknown reason. Seriously, the real reason isn't known to anyone in the entire company. I think it was just a convenient money saving move.

Monday, I come to pick up my equipment I left in Brooklyn. I took a watch to be sized so that I would need to be in the store for a bit. They tried handing me a bag at the front door, but it was missing stuff, so I hung around. Apparently employees were asked not to talk to me, and the CFO told security to get me out of the store as quickly as possible. Everyone heard about this, so they assumed maybe I stole something.. except that when that happens, you're not allowed back to the store, and it wasa obvious they had no real grounds to boot me. It got people talking and it's apparently caused quite a stir, as some of my bosses were even asking if it was my day off while I stood around in there.

Anyway, that is what happened. Lawsuits are being considered, but they aren't slandering me or lying about anything, so I doubt I will do that. I am not sure where I will go, or what I will be doing, be it finding another job here or moving back to Florida at the end of October. Jobs here are scarce, and I am looking, but the interview I had today went so poorly (guy was very cold, basically saw I was young and didn't take it seriously anymore) that I am just feeling like everything else is a waste of time. I'm not even freaking out or angry, I just don't know what to do. We shall see in the coming month.

So yeah, if I seem like I don't give a fuck about talking to you, or don't care about fursuits or fucking furry shit, or your job or whatever, don't take it personally. I am in a special kind of mood :>

Haven't made an actual post in a while, so:

I've been on a diet since the beginning of June, and it's really been paying off. I started at 230 (was 245 in FL, yikes), and today I weighed in at 210 :3. My diet is simply eating less than 1800 calories a day and not eating beef but maybe twice a month, no corn syrup and hardly any candy. I still drink every weekend, so it's not even that extreme. Combined with elliptical at the gym maybe four days a week, and all the walking I do in the city, it works out to about 3 pounds a week. I feel 100 times better than I did in April, lower blood pressure, and lost almost two pant/shirt sizes. No nasty loose skin either, but maybe I'm just lucky :B. My goal is 170, but I doubt i'll hit it any time soon since the loss will slow down after a while.

Speaking of dropping things, I need to try and let more shit go, because I just look back and go "well, that was stupid/embarassing/whatever).

That's it for now. I post more on twitter than here now :3

About this Num8 thing:

Thought it was fishy, but I thought people were doing a pretty nice thing if it was true. Nobody was "suckered", because if you had faith in people, you wouldn't assume someone would lie to that extent. I was friends with Necco, though, so I just assumed.

I feel bad for all the people who gave so much time and energy into that bullshit, hope it works out for you all.

Anyway my point is this:

It's absolutely sickening to see posts telling this fucking guy that he is "doing the right thing" and "on the way to regaining trust". SHUT THE FUCK UP, ALL OF YOU

I don't think anyone said that about Bernie Madoff. "Awww, he's so brave, he's doing the right thing!!"

Stop it. Stop. Jesus Christ, are all furries that dense and disconnected? It's the same shit everyone does with every other useless sociopath pathological liar furry we have around. God damn

Anyway, that's it :3

At first when I saw this I laughed, and then I started thinking, well.. that is really terrible. If things like this get out more, assuming this one doesn't become widely seen, that will solidify fursuiting and furry as a perverted, pedophilic act. That is not really that funny, considering these huge conventions we go to, huh.

PS: Points for being a babyfur and, apparently, a Republican staffer. How can people be so CRAZY?

Is the current economic situation due to people taking out home loans that shouldn't have? IE, is this all being caused by the poor?

Yes, or no?

I would like to hear some opinions on this matter :)

Today while getting lunch, I went to use an ATM and a problem arose. The problem was that both my savings and checking accounts appeared to have been completely wiped out by the IRS:

Photobucket

Oops! They decided they wanted their money, I guess, without any real notice whatsoever. It's quite a shocker when you wake up to suddenly having no money. I have $1 in cash and $10 in credit, should the need arise. Luckily I have the means to fix this little.. problem. So, if you think your life sucks right now, just look at my life, and maybe realize that yours is not to bad, or think "hmm, maybe I don't need a paypal donate button to pay for my furry con trip", or just maybe don't talk to me at all.

PS: The manager of my Chase branch told me they would be taking out all the money owed until the amount was paid, however the IRS trained their phone operators to tell me that "everything was fine from now on, and that I could make deposits regularly". God bless this great country of ours, amen :)

Car for sale, $9000

Photobucket

Most of you know this car. About 59,000 miles, very clean interior, it's been in the little fender bender I posted about a while back, fixed by a VERY expensive shop. Dropped on what I assume are Skunk2 springs (they came on the car when I bought it), 6k HID retro kit (no glare, awesome vision.. never been flashed at once) in black trimmed headlights, HKS short ram intake, 20% tint all around, everything else stock. It was bought as a Honda certified preowned vehicle. All maintenence is caught up, very smooth shifting and firm clutch, it's a real fun car to drive. I'm looking for $9000, but if you come close we can talk. Basically, I live in NYC now, and I don't need to drive for a few years, so if I can sell the car instead of letting it sit in Florida, I'd like to! If you're IN Florida, I can arrange a test drive. I doubt this is the place to do this, but who knows.

So when I was about 4 years old or so, my stepdad let me watch a movie when I couldn't sleep, and it scared me for years. Last night I just randomly decided to google the things I remembered from this scary movie (I still remember it in detail, it was THAT scary to me as a little kid). I found it:

What the

Thanks for the kind words the other day. It actually helped me a lot, sometimes even I get a little down and need to vent :)

ANYWAY it's time for a story. A brooklyn story.

Once there was a beautiful wedding, and after the ceremony the bride was carted through the streets in a beautiful carriage. Until this happened:

Where it sat for a week, being recycled by clever Brooklynites:

And now it is gone, the end.

Marched in the huge Greenwich Village costume parade with like 50,000 people last night, in fursuits ?_?

That's one of the craziest things I've ever been a part of. NYC is such a odd experience. Also, I love how nuts people go over furry shit outside o
